Romualdez: P360-M DSWD Aid Set for Flood-Hit Districts

 Manila – July 22, 2025

House Speaker Martin Romualdez announced the release of ₱360 million in aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to support flood victims across 36 congressional districts affected by Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

The assistance, facilitated by Romualdez and the Tingog Party-list, will be distributed through the Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) program. Each district will receive ₱10 million in direct financial aid, along with food packs and other relief items.

“This is just the beginning of our coordinated disaster response. What’s important is that people immediately feel the assistance from the Marcos administration,” Romualdez said.

The aid targets areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces where thousands have been displaced. Romualdez emphasized swift action, noting that hot meal trucks were already deployed to communities like Barangay Malanday (Marikina), Bagong Silangan Elementary School (Quezon City), and Barangay 420 (Manila).

As of Tuesday, over one million people have been affected, with six confirmed fatalities due to the combined effects of Crising and habagat. Government offices and classes were suspended in several regions, including Zambales, Pampanga, Cavite, and Rizal, due to persistent heavy rains.

Romualdez assured the public:

“During calamities, the government of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is always ready to help. You are not alone—we are with you during this time of recovery.”
