Manila – July 15, 2025 A recent nationwide survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) and commissioned by the Stratbase Group reveals that 66% of Filipinos believe Vice President Sara Duterte should formally address the impeachment charges filed against her earlier this year.
The survey, held from June 25 to 29, shows strong public support for transparency and accountability, with respondents calling on Duterte to respond to allegations of corruption, misuse of confidential funds, and other serious accusations. Support for the trial was highest in Metro Manila (76%), followed by Luzon (69%), Visayas (67%), and Mindanao (55%). Vice President Duterte has denied all charges, which include unexplained wealth, failure to condemn foreign aggression, and alleged destabilization efforts.
The impeachment complaint, signed by over 200 lawmakers, has been transmitted to the Senate, where proceedings are expected to resume later this month.
Stratbase President Victor Andres Manhit emphasized that the findings reflect a “growing public expectation for institutional accountability and prompt action.” He added that any delay in the trial risks undermining trust in democratic institutions.
